Hello on this Tuesday, July 24, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI top news headline. Eight US Democratic presidential contenders debated "You Tube" questions for the first time ever last night. The candidates were asked to respond to dozens of questions submitted by regular Americans via the Internet website "You Tube." That's unlike the usual format of questioning by members of the media or nonpartisan organizations. Among the questions, Sen. Barack Obama was asked if he was black enough and Sen. Hillary Clinton was asked whether being a woman would hurt her in dealing with nations that do not recognize women's rights. Flooding in northwestern England has begun to recede but officials say communities further south would face peak water levels in days. About one million people have been affected by the worst flooding in modern British history. Some areas are experiencing water as deep as six feet and have lost electricity and fresh water. The British Red Cross announced plans today for a fundraising appeal to help the thousands left homeless. Five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor, who were sentenced to death, have been pardoned by Bulgaria's president and left Libya. The six people spent eight years in Libyan prisons charged with deliberately infecting more than four hundred Libyan children with HIV at a hospital.
